Where did it all start?

It all started with a few humble seeds that grow into lots of delicious, fresh and tasty fruit and vegetables that make their way onto your plate. That sounds so simple doesn’t it? Well, that’s where it gets a little complicated, and all is not as simple as it seems.

It’s nice to meet you

Hi, my name is Guy! I was born into a well-known farming family in rural Lancashire. The farm has grown several different crops over the years but currently specialises in strawberries and iceberg lettuce. As you can imagine, I have grown a taste for fresh fruit and vegetables over the years, but every time I go shopping in the supermarkets I always end up asking myself one simple question: how fresh is the fruit and veg that we see on the supermarket shelves? The answer is it’s not as fresh as they would like us all to think.

It can take up to 48 hours for the produce leaving the farm to reach the supermarket shelf and, in many cases, even longer. After that, it could have sat there for a further three days before you put it into your basket. Have you ever wondered why the fruit and veg you buy from a supermarket perish so quickly? It doesn’t seem right that we as customers are not getting the freshest and tastiest veg that we can. So, with this in mind, I decided to launch The Veg Box Company.

A lot of the fruit, vegetables and salad will still have been growing on the day we pack your box. All boxes are then delivered within 24 hours. If you are lucky enough to live in our local area, your box will be delivered within six hours of being packed. You won’t get fresher fruit, veg or salad unless you pick it yourself.

We also want to do our bit for the environment and work hard with our suppliers to reduce and eliminate the need for single use plastic. If you have any queries, check to see if you can find your answer on our Frequently Asked Questions page, or contact us for more information.
