Where does our fruit and veg come from?
Here at the Veg Box Company we pride ourselves on sourcing and delivering fresh fruit and vegetables direct to your door. Where possible we look to source our produce locally and that job is made easier by being on the doorstep of Tarleton and Hesketh Bank in the heart of Lancashire, where the Moss soils are perfect for growing the finest fruit and vegetables. You will see we have a large range of items grown locally harvested fresh and delivered direct to your door.
Farmer through and through
One of such farms is my family farm specialising in strawberries and iceberg lettuce and that is where my journey began. Coming from a farming background I am very aware of how the pricing works with supermarkets and it is my aim to pay a fair price to the farmers I work with.
Freshness you can taste
In return I expect the finest and freshest produce to put into your boxes. Many of the items placed in the fruit and veg boxes were still growing the day they are packed before being delivered to you for the next day. By missing out the fruit and veg being transported miles and sat in warehouses it means you get fresh produce that lasts.
We will always use local farms first
There are obviously some items that don’t grow so well local in Lancashire, such as bananas, and so these are sourced from a little further afield. We will always use the local farms near us first to get the freshest produce possible, if it not grown near us we will only us a UK farm before we look else where. With freshness at the forefront of our minds and making sure we get the produce to you in perfect condition we pack bananas slightly green and our potatoes still have the dirt they were growing in on them.
